OPTIONS Horticulture Training Program was started in 2002 to create new job opportunities for individuals like John Watkins and Ellen Terrase to have meaningful work. The Program consists of an indoor area where individuals groom and care for plants, a greenhouse, and -- the newest addition -- a shade house. The shade house is a beautiful structure that was recently donated to OPTIONS, and the individuals in the Horticulture Program have worked hard to fill it with hanging baskets, perennials and bedding plants. The crews recently transplanted the annuals and rooted cuttings into larger pots and hanging baskets. The individuals planted large, fast-growing seeds such as sunflowers, cucumbers and squash. The Horticulture Building is next to the OPTIONS main building at 19362 West Shelton Road. Plants are always available during peak season Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition, Saturday sales are held at least quarterly.
